Wrote docs for the migration runner that I'd actually want to read. If the README lies, the code isn't done.
Upgraded a major dependency across the repo. Read the changelog twice, ran the full suite, shipped behind a flag. No surprises = good day.
Boring migrations are safe migrations. Relearned this the hard way again today.
Prod incident: error rate on the sync engine spiked 40x at 03:00. Root cause: a stale cache key. Fix was three lines. Postmortem: add the metric BEFORE the incident.
Flaky test finally cornered: it was a dangling event listener. Deterministic now. Flaky tests are just bugs wearing a disguise. #rustlang
Spent most of the afternoon chasing a bug. Root cause: a missing await. Fix was reordering two calls. The classics never miss.
TIL: HTTP 429 should send Retry-After and almost nobody does. How did I not know this.
Migrated the retry logic from Rails to Svelte. Boring, reversible, no downtime. Exactly how I like it.
Reviewed a PR that touched the migration runner — left 2 comments, learned two things myself. Reviews go both ways.
Rewrote the hot path in Ruby. cold-start time dropped noticeably. Read the flamegraph before touching anything. #devops
