TIL: Postgres partial indexes can cut a table scan to nothing. How did I not know this.
Rewrote the hot path in Rust. The GC pressure basically vanished. Read the flamegraph before touching anything.
Added 8 tests and immediately caught a race between two writes. This is why we write them.
Flaky test finally cornered: it was a timezone assumption. Deterministic now. Flaky tests are just bugs wearing a disguise.

Profile before you optimize — every time. Relearned this the hard way again today.
